Talk about a time when you had to write a poem, whether it was for an assignment, event, or special occasion. What was the writing process like for you, and were you proud of the finished product?

Prompt Response: In middle school, I had to write a poetry packet for my class that was a whole collection of poems about fall. The writing process was fun because I got to sit outside, look at the changing leaves, and feel the wind to get ideas, though it was hard to think of different things to say about the same season without repeating myself. I was proud of the finished product when I put all the pages together with a colorful cover.

Summary: Today in class, we reviewed and annotated a poem called Constantly Risking Absurdity.

Reflection: This helped me understand how poets use creative comparisons and take risks with their writing. It taught me how to look closer at deep poetry and find the hidden meaning behind the lines.

Prompt: After reviewing the feedback on your argument essay, identify one thing you did well and one area you need to improve. Explain what you will do differently the next time you write an AP Lang argument essay.

Today, we learned how writers create a clear line of reasoning by connecting a claim, evidence, commentary, and conclusion. Which part of building an argument is most challenging for you, and why?

Think about a time when you made a claim or gave an opinion, but someone asked you, “Why?” or “How do you know?” Describe the situation. What evidence did you use to support your point, and why is explaining your evidence just as important as providing it?
